Context

Prevention starts with everyday behavior

Prevention starts with everyday behavior

Despite being largely preventable, glucose-related chronic disease is difficult to manage consistently in everyday life.

Most existing digital health tools focus on tracking and recording, placing the burden of interpretation and action on users.

This project began with a question:
How might glucose awareness support long-term prevention and healthy longevity through everyday behavior, not just data?

38% of adults are pre-diabetic,a scale that makes prevention a daily, behavioral challenge, not a clinical edge case.

Reframing the Problem

The problem isn't awareness. It's Action

The problem isn't awareness. It's Action

Early interviews with CGM users and pre-diabetics revealed a consistent pattern. People understood that glucose mattered and were motivated to improve their health, yet struggled to translate insight into action.

This reframed the challenge from improving monitoring to supporting daily behavior. The opportunity was not to present more information, but to guide small, achievable actions at the right moments.

Product Concept

A companion, not a dashboard

A companion, not a dashboard

GluCoach is designed as a behavioral health companion that interprets glucose data and responds with simple, human-centered guidance. Rather than relying solely on an app, the concept explores a more physical, approachable, and engaging way to support habit formation.

The goal is not perfect control, but consistent progress through everyday choices.

System Overview

One behavioral loop across two touchpoints.

One behavioral loop across two touchpoints.

GluCoach is designed as a mobile app and physical companion that function together as a single behavioral system.

The app interprets CGM and wearable data to generate personalized nudges, while the physical companion enables quick, low-friction action when phone interactions feel intrusive.

Together, they form a continuous loop of sense → act → reinforce, supporting consistent behavior change over time.

This included app UI and interaction flows, visual language, digital character design, and the physical–digital interaction model. Each design decision aimed to make health feedback feel calm, approachable, and human, rather than clinical or punitive.

Small, everyday actions can meaningfully reduce glucose spikes.

From clinical insight to behavioral reinforcement

Rather than asking users to interpret charts or remember clinical advice,

GluCoach reinforces these behaviors through simple visual feedback and encouragement.

The character responds to everyday actions — such as eating vegetables first or taking a short walk — translating evidence-backed behaviors into immediate, emotionally positive feedback.

Phase 1 Outcome

A defined starting point, not a finished product

A defined starting point, not a finished product

Phase 1 established a clear behavioral framing of glucose awareness, along with a cohesive app + physical system designed for preventive health.

The outcome is a strong conceptual foundation ready for deeper testing and iteration.

What we built in Phase 1

  • End-to-end app flow (interactive prototype)

  • Physical companion concept & interaction model

  • Behavioral loop validated through interviews and research
